(John 19:25–27, NLT) “Standing near the cross were Jesus’ mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary (the wife of Clopas), and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her, “Dear woman, here is your son.” And he said to this disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from then on this disciple took her into his home.

(1 Corinthians 13:7, NIV) “Love … always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

I only learned to love because someone loved me.

GROWTHWORK

CAN JESUS TRUST ME

1.  … to love like Him?

2.  … to pay attention?

(Exodus 20:12, NLT) “Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

3.  … to care?

(1 Timothy 5:3–4, GN) “Show respect for widows who really are all alone. But if a widow has children or grandchildren, they should learn first to carry out their religious duties towards their own family and in this way repay their parents and grandparents, because that is what pleases God.

(1 Timothy 5:8, GN) “But if anyone does not take care of his relatives, especially the members of his own family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

4.  … to reassure and encourage?

(Proverbs 17:17, GN) “Friends always show their love. What are relatives for if not to share trouble?

5.  … to treat my brothers and sisters in Christ as my family?

(1 Timothy 5:1–2, GN) “Do not rebuke an older man, but appeal to him as if he were your father. Treat the younger men as your brothers, the older women as mothers, and the younger women as sisters, with all purity.

(Romans 12:10, GW) “Be devoted to each other like a loving family. Excel in showing respect for each other.

(Romans 15:2, Message) “Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, “How can I help?
