1. Jesus rescued and reclaimed marriage in this chapter.

2. Jesus rescues and reclaims childhood in this chapter.

(Mark 10:13–16, NLT) “One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him. When Jesus saw what was happening, he was angry with his disciples. He said to them, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.” Then he took the children in his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them.

1. For the first time Jesus speaks about the Kingdom of God belonging to someone.

For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.” (v14)

a.  Receive the Kingdom as a gift.

b.  Enter the Kingdom by responding with trustful obedience.

Anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.” (v15)

1. Without prejudice.

2. Possess wonder and awe!

“God’s world can be experienced only in wonder. The Christian should be struck by wonder about his own being. We ought to have a sense of wonder about the world, about one another, about all of humanity.” –Karl Barth”

3. Show and tell.

(Matthew 21:16, NLT) “Do you hear what these children are saying?” “Yes,” Jesus replied. “Haven’t you ever read the Scriptures? For they say, ‘You have taught children and infants to give you praise.

2. Help your children come to Jesus.

One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them.” (v13)

3. Jesus took time to bless each child fervently.

Then he took the children in his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them.” (v16)
