Psalm 118

Thanksgiving Service 2022

1. I AM THANKFUL FOR GOD’S FAITHFUL LOVE.

(Psalm 118:1) “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.”

a. God is good

(Nahum 1:7, NLT) “The LORD is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.”

b. God is faithful

(1 Corinthians 1:9, NIV) “God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”

c. God is eternal

(1 John 5:20, PT) “The Son of God has made our understanding come alive so that we can know by experience the One who is true. And we are in him who is true, God’s Son, Jesus Christ—the true God and eternal life!”

2. I GROW GRATEFUL IN THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD.

(Psalm 118:19-20) “Open for me the gates where the righteous enter, and I will go in and thank the LORD. These gates lead to the presence of the LORD, and the godly enter there.”

a. Benefits

(Psalm 103:1–2, NIV) “Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—”

b. Benefactor

(James 1:17a, NLT) “Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens.”

c. Beneficiary

(Psalm 118:14) “The LORD is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.”

3. I LEARN GRATITUDE FOR THE PEOPLE IN MY LIFE.

(Psalm 118:22-23) “The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone. This is the LORD’s doing, and it is wonderful to see.”

4. I LIVE TO GIVE OUT OF GRATITUDE FOR GOD’S LOVE.

(Psalm 118:27) “Take the sacrifice and bind it with cords on the altar.”

(Psalm 116:17, NIV) “I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the LORD.”

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
