1. The Truth of Parental Influence

(Acts 7:22, ESV) And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was mighty in his words and deeds.

2. The Priority of Parental Influence

(Deuteronomy 4:9, ESV) Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children’s children

(Deuteronomy 6:5-7, ESV) You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.  You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

(Proverbs 22:6, ESV) Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

(Ephesians 6:4, ESV) Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

3. The Faith of Parental Influence

(Hebrews 11:23-27, ESV) By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.  By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.  He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.  By faith he left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the king, for he endured as seeing him who is invisible.

1. Confidence in God

(Hebrews 11:23, ESV) By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.

(Hebrews 11:24, ESV) By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.

(2 Timothy 1:5, ESV) I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.

(Romans 8:28, ESV) And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

2. Commitment to God’s purpose

(Hebrews 11:23, ESV) By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.

(Acts 7:20, ESV) At this time Moses was born; and he was beautiful in God’s sight. And he was brought up for three months in his father’s house.

3. Courage to do what’s right

(Hebrews 11:23, ESV) By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.

(Hebrews 11:27, ESV) By faith he left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the king, for he endured as seeing him who is invisible.

(Hebrews 11:28, ESV) By faith he kept the Passover and sprinkled the blood, so that the Destroyer of the firstborn might not touch them.
