(Matthew 16:13-16, NLT) When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.” Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

1. Who do people say that the Son of Man is?

(Matthew 16:13, NLT) When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”

(Matthew 22:37, NLT) Jesus said, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind.”

(Philippians 2:5, ESV) “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus.”

(Mark 6:16, NLT)”When Herod heard about Jesus, he said, “John, the man I beheaded, has come back from the dead.”

(Malachi 4:5, NLT) “Look, I am sending you the prophet Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the Lord arrives.”

(Deuteronomy 18:15, NLT) “The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from among your fellow Israelites, (and) You must listen to Him.”

2. Who do you say that I am?

(Matthew 16:15, NLT) Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?”

(Matthew 16:16, NLT) “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

3. Who do you say Jesus is?

Growthwork

1. Affect my belief and my faith

2. It will change my behavior

(John 8:36, NLT) “If the Son sets you free, you are truly free.”

3. It affects the outcome of our life

(Matthew 16:24-26, NLT) “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?” –Randy Alcorn- It’s All About Jesus

(Ephesians 2:8-9, NLT)”God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.”

(Romans 10:9, NLT) “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
